I took a venture into town today and just went browsing for a few items because I always like trying new things! The only makeup/beauty shops we have in my town are Superdrug and Boots and to be honest, they're both small and quite frankly... rubbish. They don't sell many products because the shops are so small but its good for basic things that you need. I went in to have a browse and came out with a few items!
So here are the items I bought!..
I've been looking for a highstreet foundation that isn't too expensive. I have to read a lot into foundations as I can't use any with oil in because of my painfully annoying skin. I am a HUGE fan of Carli Bybel's Youtube channel, and she recommends the L'oreal True match foundation. It's oil free and it only retails at £9.99 and I thought that I would try it! When I got home, straight away I wanted to try the foundation and i'm so pleased with the results. The look is kind of in between a matte and dewy look so it just looks so natural. It's not too scented and it blends SO easily and it just makes my skin look flawless without looking cakey and thick. I bought it in the colour Ivory Rose
I'm also wanting to try a few new blushes and I picked up this bright pink colour by Rimmel- its called 050 Live Pink and I thought it was a really nice bright colour that would be nice in autumn/winter look. I haven't tried this yet but I have used Rimmel blush before and it blends really nicely and they're also quite pigmented.
This was also another blush that I saw in wilkinsons and I just really liked the colour of it! Its a peachy/pink/rose colour and I thought that it looked lovely. When I swatched it on my hand and it was really pigmented! Its by a brand called Essence and its the Silky touch blush in the colour Babydoll. As soon as I got home I tried the blush ontop of my new foundation and I LOVED it, its so pigmented and natural looking on my skin and it blends so well. This was only £2.50 and I would like to try out more shades!
I've been getting quite a few dark circles around my eyes lately with staying up late doing uni work and I know that orange colours are really good for that kind of thing. I have ordered the NYX orange concealer but its going to take a while to get here and I wanted something to get me by for now so I picked up the MUA Pro Base, prime and conceal kit. It shows you on their website which colour can be used for what but I will be using the orange and lavender shades more. This was only £3.00 and it is amazing for the price.
I also bought 2 shades of the MUA lipsticks. These lipsticks are so pigmented and you yet a lot for the money you pay. They're so easy to apply and are really moisturising too! These lipsticks are only £1 which is amazing and not only do you get the coloured stick, there is also a small pot on the bottom of the packaging that you can unscrew and there is more product in the little pot which is so cool. The first colour is Shade 2 and the second colour is Shade 7.
I was a bit hesitant to buy this product because some people think they're rubbish but I don't think its all that bad! I bought a darker shade because the bad reviews I have seen are all with the lighter shades and the product is actually really pigmented. Its the Rimmel Lasting Finish colour rush in the shade 200 Keep Mauving. I swatched it in the shop and really liked the colour and I thought it would be handy just to keep in your bag to throw on when you're lipstick is looking a bit worn. When I got home and tried to wash it off my hand after it had dried, I actually found myself scrubbing my hand because it wouldn't budge so I think that this could be a good product and I cant wait to try it!
Finally, I picked up two salt sprays. I got the VO5 one in superdrug for £3.99 which I thought was a really reasonable price. I then went into boots to get some shampoo and conditioner and they had 3 for 2 on Aussie products and I decided to pick up the salt spray in this range as well.
The VO5 smells UNREAL. It smells so fruity and tropical and it dries so quickly as well. Compared with the Aussie Salt Spray (which doesn't smell as nice) I noticed that the VO5 made my hair look more like straw and it dried out my hair a lot more than the Aussie spray. The waves both came out looking the same apart from the Aussie made it look more natural as my hair wasn't in wavy thick strands. But I think that I will be using both of these products a lot!
The Aussie shampoo was £4.69 which is a bit more pricey but I got it free on the 2 for 3 deal that they have on in boots at the minute
