Seems as it is November I thought now would be the right time to post my favourite makeup items that I have bought this year!
ITEM 1
I'm going to start off with the mother of all foundations which is the Clinique Anti-blemish Solutions liquid makeup. I have it in shade 02 Fresh Ivory.
I used to use Mac studio fix foundation but since using Clinique this has just been the best foundation I have ever used, the coverage is AMAZING for scars, spots and freckles. It doesn't make your face look as though it is caked in makeup, it is really light on the skin and it stays on ALL day. It smells nice too which is always a bonus!
ITEM 2
My two favourite lipsticks from this year have to be the Angel and Plumful colours by MAC. The Angel is a light pink/nude colour and I wear this nearly every day because I think it looks so natural and pretty. The Plumful colour is a purple/red colour and its very autumnal, I have worn this a lot over the Autumn and Winter period, sometimes I find purple or red lipsticks can be too dark for my skin tone as I am quite pale but I feel that the plumful lipstick is just the right colour for my skin tone.
I LOVE MAC lipsticks as I think they are so pigmented and last nearly all day with a few touch ups, I found that the red lipsticks by MAC always last the longest along with a bit of lip liner too.
ITEM 3
I have tried and tested so many foundation primers over the years and the one I have found that works the best is definitely the Smashbox photo finish primer.
The primer feels so light on your skin and you only need an amount the size of a pea to cover your whole face. An added bonus is the fact that the primer is oil free so its good for people like me who get spots! It gives my foundation a nice finish and makes me face really soft and smooth.
ITEM 4
Now for the mother of all mascaras, I've been using mascara for almost 7 years now and I have never come across a better mascara, It is the L'oreal Telescopic Extra Black mascara.
I bought this mascara about 9 months ago and it is AMAZING! In the past I have found that a lot of mascaras make my eyelashes stick together, the mascara gets clumped on the brush after a while and sometimes they dry out. You don't need a lot of this mascara, it makes my eyelashes look so long and spread out at the same time! They don't look clumpy and because the brush is plastic, the product never gets clumped on the brush and it hasn't dried out yet! I really recommend this product.
ITEM 5
MAC Pigments are just something I started to try about 5 months ago and I am really pleased with the results! My favourite is the Rose coloured pigment.
You don't need a lot of the product so it lasts for so long and you can use it for anything. I mainly use it as eyeshadow. They are so pigmented and easy to work with, I find that the colour comes out best when you use come kind of wet substance on your brush, I use the fix + spray by MAC but you could use things like eye drops or just water, it also sticks a lot better onto your skin when the brush is wet to start.
ITEM 6
I have used one eyeshadow palette so much this year and that is the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay.
The colours in this palette are quite natural and you can create a really nice brown/pink smokey eye for an every day look. It also comes with a brush which is really good too. Sometimes when I can't be bothered or don't have time to put on eyeliner, I wear the Burnout or the Luck colour on my eyes just as a base with some mascara, this just brightens my eyes and makes me look more awake.
ITEM 7
This eyeshadow palette is perfect for a dark, smokey eye. It is the MAC Smokeluxe Palette.
I use the top cream colour as a highlighter, I use this underneath my brow and as a base primer on my whole lid, I also use this around the tear ducts of my eyes. I then use the brown colour over the top of the cream base and I apply this all over my eyelid, I then use a blending brush to soften the edges and to bring the eyeshadow up to the end of my eyebrow. I will then use a mixture of the grey and black shadow around the corners and in the crease of my eyelid. I then blend this in again with the blending brush to create a softer appearance.
So these are all my favourite makeup items from 2014, I highly recommend all of these products and I may also do a favourite drug store makeup post in the future too!
